AWS CodeDeploy Agent Installation in Centos 6

Following are the steps to be followed in order to install AWS Codedeploy agent in centos6

Install ruby2.2 from source:

  1. wget https://cache.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/2.2/ruby-2.2.6.tar.gz
  2. cd ruby-2.2.6
  3. ./configure –prefix=/usr/local/ruby2.2
  4. make
  5. make install
  6. cd /usr/bin
  7. ln -fs /usr/local/ruby2.2/bin/ruby ruby2.2

Install code deploy:

  1. wget https://aws-codedeploy-us-east-1.s3.amazonaws.com/latest/install
  2. chmod +x install
  3. Set the path in first line of install file from #!/usr/bin/ruby env to #!/usr/bin/ruby2.2
  4. ./install auto

The install script will pull the codedeploy rpm and performs installation

Finally check codedeploy agent status

sudo service codedeploy-agent status

If you see a message like error: No AWS CodeDeploy agent running, start the service and run the following two commands, one at a time:

sudo service codedeploy-agent start
